La Burja Latina is the wild wind of music. It rushes across the ocean, bringing the traditional rhythms and songs of fiery Latin America and flowing through the colourful harmonies of the mystical Balkans. La Burja Latina blows through Colombian traditional flutes “gaitas”, guitars, drums and vocals.
Our music is inspired by the rhythms of cumbia. Cumbia was born on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, on the banks of the Magdalena River, which runs through the whole of Colombia. About 500 years ago, 3 different cultures met there. The indigenous people who lived there more than 10 000 years ago, Africans brought in as slaves by European colonists and the colonists themselves.
Musicians and dancers: Carol Gutierrez (Colombia), Katarina Gregorič (Slovenia), Maria Keck (Hungary) Guillermo Escalante (Argentina).
